In the Beginning…
Kenneth Henry and Reginald Fennessy, former business partners and close friends, established "The Gosford City Players" after selling their successful soft drink brand. Along with their friends from the local theatre community, they performed operettas and farces at Gosford Progress Hall before moving into their own small yet opulent theatre. Their inaugural production, The Odd Couple, featuring Ken and Reg, was met with enthusiastic acclaim, symbolising the community's unwavering support. Tragically, the newfound venue was engulfed in flames shortly after the show's conclusion, resulting in the loss of Ken's life.
Despite this devastating setback, the enduring spirit of the "Gosford City Players" has persevered for over fifty years, finding its current home at the Redtree Theatre. Reg Fennessy presides as its president, while Ken's legacy is lovingly upheld by his wife Kathleen and their son Kip, who currently serves as the resident director for GCP, ensuring his impact continues to resonate within the community.
